DETROIT, MI -- Metro Detroit utilities service DTE Energy is making progress to help the 140,000 customers who were without power this week due to Monday's high winds and lightning.
As of 6 a.m Wednesday approximately 42,000 DTE customers were still without electricity, but 98,000 had their services restored by then after wind gusts of 70 miles an hour damaged the area.

DTE Energy reported on its website Tuesday that approximately 130,000 customers were still without power by 11 a.m. due to high winds that reached up to 70 miles an hour in Oakland County and lightning.
